雷蒙于2018年通过短片纪录片《舞语》首次亮相ABC iView(澳大利亚广播公司运营的视频点播和补播电视服务),通过舞语和动画探索酷儿体验。灵感则来自他自己对Grindr(同性交友约会手机软件)等交友软件的使用。

通过此奖项,他能够进一步开发剧本,该项目因此被第二届Impact Australia(为来自澳大利亚的有创意的故事讲述者们提供为期八周的加速辅导计划)所接受。

Synopsis

A collection of true experiences on dating apps from the Australian queer community, explored through dance and animation.

Director Biography

Ramon works across three disciplines: screenwriting, directing and editing. Building on a Bachelor of Film & TV and a Masters of Screenwriting, he has spent 8 years in the industry developing and contributing to narrative, documentary and commercial projects for film, TV and web, always lead by a passion for dramatic storytelling.

Ramon made his ABC iView debut in 2018 with the short documentary Dances, exploring queer experiences through dance and animation, inspired by his own use of apps like Grindr. The project screened at prestigious festivals internationally, and earned him QueerScreen’s Emerging Queer Filmmaker Award.

Ramon’s passion for dramatic structure made his first foray into long-form editing a success, with the documentary Camino Skies earning him a nomination for Best Feature Editing at DocEdge 2019. After a successful theatrical run, becoming the No.1 documentary in New Zealand for 2019, it was released on Amazon Prime in the UK and Ireland.

In January 2020, Ramon was selected for the inaugural In Dreams Fellowship, off the back of his pilot script Daddies, an irreverent take on gay fatherhood. Through the fellowship he was able to develop the script further, and was subsequently accepted into Impact Australia 2 with the project.

Ramon is currently developing concepts for television, and consistently cutting commercial content around Melbourne. When he’s not working, he loves to bash around on the piano and talk at length about Whitney Houston to anyone who will listen.
