杨苗婧，陕西渭南人，教师家庭长大。1 岁，哭到鬼见怕。5 岁，养死了一条金鱼。10 岁，弄丢了一个书包。16 岁，连续考过七年第一名。20岁，拍了一部关于梦想的片子（《寻书》）。23 岁，拍了另一部关于母亲的片子（《妈妈上班了》）。24 岁，拍了一部关于我的片子（《米米的猜想》）。
Yang Miaojing, a native of Weinan, Shaanxi Province, grew up in a family of teachers. At one year old, she cried her eyes out. At five, her goldfish died. At ten, she lost a bag. By sixteen, she had maintained first place in her class for seven consecutive years. At the age of 20, she made a film about dreams (Library Paradise). At 23, she made another film about working mothers (Duty On and Off) . At 24, she made a film about her childhood (Mimi’s Confusion).

故事来源于我母亲怀我时的孕梦，梦里一直有条蛇在爬，后来鸡把蛇吃了，算命先生口中的男孩就变成了女孩，那就是我。这是我在青黄不接的
10岁时亲身经历的恐惧，长相平平、性格好强、发育迟缓……如果我曾经在妈妈肚里的时候可能是个男孩，那有朝一日，我会变成男孩吗？我的猜想结束于月经初潮那天。于是有了米米的形象，一个特别像男孩的女孩，甚至她都觉得自己可能是男孩，怎么证明自己拥有的是一具女孩的身体呢？好奇心驱使下她做了很多有趣的尝试，直到激起了一直忽视她的大人们的强烈反应，而这深深伤害了她。
The story comes from my mother’s pregnancy dream, where there was a snake at first, then a chicken ate the snake…Gradually the boy predicted by the fortune teller became a girl—me. The film describes the real fear I experienced at the tender age of 10, when I was plain looking, aggressive, and stunted in growth. I often wondered: If I could have been a boy in my mother’s womb, would I one day be proven to be a boy? That question lingered until my period came one day. There comes Mimi, a girl who looks so much like a boy that even she thinks she might be a boy, how can she prove that she has a girl’s body? Driven by her curiosity, she made many interesting attempts until she provoked strong reactions from the adults who had ignored her from beginning, which hurt her deeply.
